George Naakor was a successful soldier in the United States Marine Corps. He worked his way up the ranks and finally earned Captain. Having just returned from 3 years at war in Iraq, he was glad to return home for some R & R. Being that he had no family or expenses, all his pay, past pay and hazard pay was just accumulating in his bank account. He decided it was time to treat himself to something nice. He went out and blew the bulk of his cash and bought a Ford GT super-car. He knew he should save his money and someday buy a house, but there's no telling where the USMC will send him next and he wanted to have some fun. He paid cash for the GT and hit the road driving North from Quantico.
Having no real destination he just kept driving and seeing the American countryside. George started to get hungry so he pulled off the highway. He didn't realize that he was in Paragon City; in the Skyway district. He watched in awe as he saw some super-powered beings flying around. He had read reports of people with powers but never actually met one. He thought of how cool it would be if these beings enlisted in the Corps and how much easier battle would be on the front lines. However, his hunger got the best of him and parked his GT in a parking spot outside of a Mexican restaurant and went in for some dinner.
After talking to the waitress, he found out there was a cheap hotel just behind the restaurant and George decided he would crash there for the night. Knowing he had no where to go, he indulged in several Corona beers and became quite drunk. George was typically a happy drunk and was having a great time chatting to the wait staff at the restaurant. Many folks gathered around him to hear stories about the front lines in Iraq. But something caught Georges eye outside the window. Someone was messing with his car.
George lept over a table and kicked open the entrance and ran outside to confront these vandals. Three trolls glanced up at George but continued to try to break into his GT. Even though he was intoxicated, George's training took over and he drop kicked one troll brawler to the curb cracking his head on the cement knocking him out instantly. The two other trolls realized George wasn't just an average citizen and attacked back. The Jutal wasted no time and opened fire with his Uzi. As George dived towards cover, one bullet caught him in the leg, another hit him in the shoulder and a third tore through his trench-coat. The booze prevented him from feeling the pain right away and he's been shot much worse before. George immediately turned to the Jutal knowing he needed to disarm him ASAP. George grabbed a trashcan for cover and rushed at the Jutal using the can as a shield. Bullets ricocheted off the can lodging several bullets into the door the GT. Once close enough, George dropped the can and spun around ramming his elbow directly into the Jutals face shattering his nose and cheekbone. The Jutal screamed in pain as he dropped to the ground. As George looked up to engage the third troll. The troll had just called over several Supa Trolls and about 10 of them were converging on George. He was outnumbered and he knew it. He had a shotgun in his trunk but there was no time to get to it.
As the trolls moved in close, George readied himself. He wasn't going to go without a fight and planned to take as many of these guys with him as possible. However, before the fight started, a zip of green and gold rushed in tossed every troll into the air. Two trolls landed on the GT smashing the hood and cracking the windshield. Quickly, with extreme precision, Generic Agent1 had engaged the trolls and eliminated every one with lightning fast attacks.
As the fight was over, Agent1 approached George to make sure he was ok. However, the alcohol and adrenaline had the better of his judgement and gave A1 a tongue lashing,
"How dare you interrupt MY fight! You sloppy hero, did you see what you did to my car??!? Who'd gonna pay for that?? Ya know what.. You are! "
A1 was slightly humored at this rambunctious marine but tried to calm him,
"Stand down soldier! Don't worry about your car, I can help you get it fixed."
George didn't seem to or want to listen.. He was still ready for a fight and was picking one with the wrong man.
"Ya know, I don't care if you are a super. I'm gonna teach ya."
George threw several punches which A1 easily dodged. He continued to try to calm George,
"Sir.. you are out of line. I could have you put in the brig for attempting to strike a superior officer."
George didn't listen and continued his attack in futility. A1 had enough and decided he would put this soldier in the Zig for the night just to cool off and sober up. A1 ran at George at incredible speed and struck him with an open palm to his chest. The breath was immediately knocked out of him and he dropped to his knees. His head was already reeling from the alcohol. Right before George passed out, A1 pinned a Zig transport pin to him and gave instructions to have him released in the morning. The next thing George knew, he was in a 8x4 cell and passed out on the floor.
After a short sleep, George was woken by someone kicking him in the head. As George looked up, he saw the villain, Morbas, who instructed him,
"Get up, human.. if you want to escape this prison."
It finally dawned on George his fate.. He was in jail.. His record is now permanently blemished. He'd be kicked out of the Corps for sure and probably spend many years in jail. He complied with the villain and rose to his feet and followed the mob of other prisoners trying to make their escape. As the made their way to the courtyard, Shadow Fusion was there giving instructions,
"Ok you swine.. We can only take one of you. We need you to spread out and plant bombs in the surrounding towers. They are guarded, so if you can manage it and return without killing yourself, you got a ticket out of here with us in our Flier. "
The prisoners spread out and rushed the towers. George took out the guards in the tower in seconds flat, planted the bomb and sprinted back to Shadow Fusion. However, someone had beaten him back.. Some girl with spines growing out her body. Shadow Fusion looked over at Morbas and instructed,
"Every one else failed. Kill them."
Morbas waved his hand at George and suddenly he was covered in some black inky tentacles that seemed to tug at his very soul. He fell to the ground writhing in pain. Trying to fight as best he can. As he rolled around, he noticed the dirt and rocks on the ground were beginning to stick to his skin. When he brushed them off, his skin had transformed and looked to have become that rock. Whatever this villain was doing to him was releasing an already existing mutant genome that was transforming George. His entire body was now covered in what appeared to be stone but was really his skin.. The tentacles didn't seem to effect him as much anymore. He slammed his foot into the ground and yelled for it to stop.
Shadow Fusion looked back and said,
"Well well well.. what have we here. Looks like soldier boy has a new power." Shadow fusion looks at the spine girl, "You there, if you want out, go kill him."
The spine girl ran towards George with quills being tossed in all directions. George concentrated and lined up a good punch.. His hand, suddenly covered in rock, slammed into the girl knocking her to the ground. He realized he seemed to control the very earth around him. He reached towards the ground and the rock around him formed into a mallet in his hands. As the girl tried to rise, he swung the mallet towards the girl and it slammed her back to the ground and crushed her immediately. He knew he just killed her and it was wrong.. but inside, it felt good. This new power suited him and he enjoyed it.
Shadow Fusion hands a report to Morbas and boards the Flier and says,
"Ok then. Scratch spine girl from the list. Add the rock soldier. Let's get going. Heroes are bound to be inbound. We got what we need from here. Vitalis.. Fire up the engines. We are leaving!"
As Morbas and George climb up the ramp into the Flier, Morbas says,
"Sorry about trying to kill you back there. Just following orders.. besides, it looks to have made you into a better man anyways. So what do you call yourself?"
George didn't want to use his name as he knew that Captain George Naakor was now a wanted man. He was now some rock monster and figured he needed a new name for his new life. Before he could think of anything better, he recalled a comedy movie that had a rock monster in it called Gorignaak and figured that it was a good fit.
Morbas wrote Gorignaaks name into the report and said,
"Welcome to the Shadow Syndicate, Gorignaak. Just follow orders and you will do fine here."
