Born in a rundown portion of King's Row and abandoned at a very young age, Tyler Stone turned to a life of crime for his survival.  Around age fifteen he learned he could somehow manipulate fire and joined a group of thugs in southern Steel Canyon called Outcasts.  He spent several years with the Outcasts and worked his way up through their ranks.  The Outcast Elite boss, Frostfire, took note of Tyler's powers and cunning, and for two years Tyler was Frostfire's right hand man.

But being second in command wasn't enough for him.  His evil ambitions grew and he was planning to overthrow Frostfire.  His intricately detailed plan to become the leader of the Outcasts would have worked flawlessly, but he was destined for something far greater.  Two nights before he was going to eliminate Frostfire and take over he was approached by two Praetorians and taken to Praetorian Earth where he would learn his true destiny.

The evil witch doctor of Shadow Syndicate, Jewelshadow, explained he was supposed to be a hero on Prime Earth, but a Praetorian Elite guard fled to Earth and had her baby there to escape the Praetorian slave camps.  This act upset a delicate cosmic balance.  His cosmic counterpart, the Praetorian baby, grew up to be the hero he was meant to be.  In turn, the universe corrected itself and Tyler became evil.

Jewelshadow gave Tyler the name Shadow Helix as she tortured and experimented on him, much to her pleasure.   She augmented his already impressive fire powers, and subtly suggested he was so powerful he could overthrow Shadow Fusion.

Shadow Helix returned to Prime Earth.  He spreads fear in the Rogue Isles while he bides his time waiting for the moment to strike Shadow Fusion down and take over the Shadow Syndicate.
