While there is no formal "coalition" style mechanic in SWTOR just yet, Mac and I talked with the people in the guild Serendipity that we raid with a lot and we all decided it would be cool to have a global chat that both guilds could join to find teams, fill spots in raids, or just talk.
We made a new channel called "Sff" and all members of FF and Serendipity are welcome to join.
To join the channel, type /cjoin Sff
To talk in the channel, type /4
All the people we've met in Serendipity are very nice, helpful, and very talented players. We have a lot to learn from them and I think this coalition will help us find raids more often at the end game, or even find more teammates when leveling.
So...yay. :)

In order to keep up with raids and gear, a few of us who are really playing SW;TOR a lot have switched our toons over to Serendipity.
Raiding is just such a huge part of the end-game, and in order to really stay competitve and up-to-date on gear you have to be "in the loop" with a group that raids frequently.
So that means a good chunk of us who are on all the time are not gonna be seeing FF guild chat.
But have no fear! Mac set up a new channel, Fusion_force, for us to keep in touch.
When you enter the game, just type /cjoin Fusion_force and then press /4 to talk in the channel. If you already have a channel that uses /4, the message you get when you join will tell you /5 or whatever number you need to use the new channel.
See you guys in-game!

The punishment for traitors to the Galactic Republic (ie Fusion Force) is:
Death by Snu Snu!

Less horrifying than death by Snookie, I suppose.

Can you join the Fusion_force chat channel from the Empire side or is it strictly Republic? If it is Republic only, can we make an Empire-side version? (What is the command for making a chat channel like that in TOR, anyway?)

Sure, we can make one Empire side.
To make one, you just right click one of the tabs above your chat box and click "Create Custom Channel."

I joined the channel red side and I believe it just basically created a channel red side.
I was chatting but it appeared I was the only one, as there were no replies, but it was really late at night.
Lunar and I are going to test it with him logging in on the blue side and me on the red side.

Did it work? If not, I went ahead and created a "Shadow_supremacy" channel for our Imperial stuff.
